Cryptic message of the day

Hm, you know, it's strange how sometimes the characters you write about have this way of surprising you. You put yourself in their shoes, take on their perspective and suddenly you've got this whole paragraph - or five - of what they're thinking about and you feel vaguely uncomfortable because you didn't think it would go that way and then you wonder where the hell it all came from.

Ah, it's always the quiet ones that surprise you the most.
