Chandler sometimes wondered if their rotten luck with catching the criminals alive was a curse or just a sign that the universe was generally against them. Or maybe just against him specifically.
Lately he'd also started wondering that if there were some parallel universes out there (one? several? an infinite number of them?), did he also fail to bring anybody to justice there ? It would be nice to think he succeeded somewhere, that not everyone died as soon as they found themselves arrested by him and the team.
And who knows, Chandler smiled whimsically, mabe in that universe Ed was his sergeant while Miles proudly held the title of their historical advisor?
Yeah, and maybe Kent decided to do something beside sending him awkward longing looks right after they finished the Ripper case.
Chandler snorted to himself. He wasn't nearly as oblivious as everyone thought, but parallel universe or not, he couldn't imagine Kent ever doing anything with his rather unfortunate - if he said so himself - crush.
Chandler got up, gathered his watch, mobile and car keys. There was work to do. Maybe, just maybe, this time their own universe would show a bit of mercy to them.
