"Why don't you two just elope?" asked Moriarty

Yesterday I went to see Sherlock. The Abominable Bride and my inner Holmesian purist was mostly satisfied. Which was nice. Without spoiling it for anybody who hasn't seen it yet, I can say that Molly Hooper was by far the biggest surprise. Oh the stories that are just waiting to be written... :D

Anyway, I certainly hope the fandom will start writing in this alternate 19th-century universe and that Doctor Hooper will feature prominently. And will be shipped with Anderson, hehehhhehhehe. Hell, I ship it.

"Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", dir. Guy Ritchie

Time to write something about the new Holmes productions before I completely forget. For now, only the Guy Ritchie's film. I'll leave the BBC mini series till after the second season ends.

So, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is a sequel and, I don't know, maybe I'm mellowing, but this one didn't piss me off the way the first Ritchie's Holmes film did. Or maybe I've just accepted the fact that his movies don't have much in common with the original ACD stories.

Sherlock Holmes, dir. Guy Ritchie

So, I went to see the new Sherlock Holmes film about three weeks ago. And it wasn't as bad as I feared. The cinematography was great, Victorian London suitably grim and music was a real treat. And yeah, that's about it as far as compliments go. cut for whining and spoilers )
